Bangkok’s Melbourne Cup is the Australian and New Zealand
Women’s Group’s biggest fundraiser. Cancelled last November because of the
threat of floods, today has been billed as ‘melbourne cup Retrospective.’
I don’t care what it’s called; I get to wear my fascinator.
At last.
Back in September K and I began planning. We talked about
inviting the same women as last year, minus those that have moved (C & C we
miss you) and trying to find the theme. Then, good ol’ Husband came up with the
idea/theme. Was he trying to tell me something?
K & I set of for Pratunam for materials and then I began
work on the prototype. My second design got the thumbs up.
Big thanks to K for helping to cut out hundreds of pieces of felt.

Oh, I remember the ANZWG Melbourne Cup luncheon in 2006. Seriously fantastic day, though I've never drunk so much before or since (those waiters constantly filling up your glass after each sip totally put me on my ear). I remember the working party for the table centres that I helped make. Adore your fascinators! Am sitting here in Germany in -12c watching the snow fall outside my window, and feeling VERY nostalgic for the warmth of BKK.
Those are amazing! I hope you have a great time and get the admiration those deserve, brilliant :-)
TT101, 2006 was my first Melbourne Cup. It was a pretty messy business, if I remember rightly. The warmth is lovely but we're all feeling sad (nostalgic?) at missing out on the snow!
Denise, Thank you. We did have fun but didn't win, AGAIN! Bah. I give up. (I don't; I won't...)
Those are utterly wonderful!! Love em!
Sorry you didn't win (boo) but hope you had a wonderful time.

Just love the hats you are soooo talented, shame you didn't win but glad you had a great time.
Those are brilliant. And you can keep the pattern and adapt and make some easter yellow chicks or robins for Christmas!
