Woo hoo

Well, I just couldn't wait to get over here again.

Starbucks (a different one in a different Mall - Siam Paragon this time) has sprinkled the writing fairy dust on me again. HURRAH.

My grand total is 21,389 words. I can't tell you how chuffed I am with myself. That's 3,163 words since I last did a word count.

So I'm developing a new theory: that I have to leave the apartment, and sit in a different Starbucks in order to write? Maybe? I certainly can't seem to write at home: I go and lie on my bed to read and then I fall asleep. (I do so love to sleep).

I have just arranged to sublet a little room near Andrew Computer (who teaches me website) to see if I can go and write there. I know this seems an extragavance but it is very, very cheap and only on a month's trial. I'm hoping that this means I eat fewer Starbucks chocolate brownies and write lots...

Wow, that's brilliant - you obviously need to go to a different place to find your writing zone.

Sadly, I'm now salivating through the gourmet market of that mall in stead of writing. I SO need to come and visit!

A room of your own...the mark of a true writer!

That mall looks fab...we visited Bangkok nearly 20 years ago, but I'm sure it must have changed so much since then.

A room to write in AWAY from home! That is a fantastic idea! At home there are FAR too many distractions (read: comfortable places to lie down and sleep). I think a room always makes the writing thing so much more official and serious. This is what I do and this is where I do it.

So pleased you are on such a roll JJ! That is indeed great news!

I hope the room works out. I suspect it will be cheaper than visiting every Starbucks on the planet (though probably not as much fun).

That is so cool - you must be chuffed to bits with your growing word count!!

And

your going to have your own room where you can do writerly things!! There will be no stopping you :-)

I'd love that! A writing office. Sounds wonderful.

Thanks everyone
Of course I'm tempted to spend the next four weeks shopping to make my garrett gorgeous and comfortable but then my month's trial would be up and I won't have done any writing! So I'm going to see if I can borrow a chair and table from Andrew Computer, and get on with it!

Your own office? Way cool.

For years my writing was done in the kitchen because that's where the family computer was. Now we have only one child at home and it's in her room. I have a laptop and go to Port City Java. I usually sit facing the window so there's no glare on my screen and with a baseball cap pulled down over my eyes so I see nothing but the screen and keyboard. They have the best coffees in the world and -- sadly -- excellent pastries.(One side effect of six years of kitchen/coffee house writing venues has been a physique that requires I ask others if my shoes match.)

I often dream of my own office with shelves of reference materials at my elbow and maybe a view out over the river and a sound system that played something other than the political debate at the next table.

I would definitely rent an office to write in if I could afford it (although I might have to move to Thailand too befor that will be a possibility) - I think it's an excellent idea to have a place where you can write free from all the distractions of home or 'work' work.

Oh dear, sorry I haven't visited in awhile, it seems I've missed much excitement! That sounds wonderful, JJ. I've often wondered whether a proper office away from home would do the trick - in our small space I'm holed up in the dining room overlooking the living room and kitchen...though the tea is never far, and that is good. ;)

Hiya Angie, No need to worry about being absent - yes, lots of excitement, but I just can't seem to get there... very frustrating. Still it'll still be there next week and I must remain patient...
