Why why why? And what?

Since September/October I’ve been in a regular habit of blogging nearly every day but since Christmas I’ve been a very bad blogger.

I’m not quite sure why. It’s not for lack of material. I’ve started lots of posts - I know because I write them in Word first – and then thought ‘Oh deary me; they won’t want to know that.’ And then I haven’t posted them.

Sometimes I think this blog get a bit confused – it has a bit of an identity crisis. It isn’t quite sure if it’s an ‘I live in Thailand … Isn’t that different?’ blog or an ‘I am trying to write a book’ blog. It is definitely an ‘I am trying to write a book’ blog but … well … I do live in Thailand…

It started life because I wanted to join the Novel Racers but honestly, the writing angst drivel of that first year, makes me wonder why the comments didn’t dwindle dramatically rather than build slowly.

When I am writing well, (producing words rather than producing high quality prose!) I don’t have much to say about the process. And I am obsessed with visuals … funnily dressed Thai promotional people or impressive decorations.

So why do you come here? What do you like? (I can’t promise it’ll mean a change in my posts but at least I’ll know whether to have a full blown identity crisis or not.)

I think it's perfect. The Thai stuff is light, entertaining and full of insight. The writing stuff is just what you need to keep you going, it got you this far, and with the help of the novel racers will see you through.

But then again, I am rather biased.

More photo's of the strange and wonderful sights in Bangkok please.

I read it because I 'heart' you JJ and you bring a smile to my face from so far away x

I enjoy and appreciate both sides of your blog - Thai and writing life. Your photos never disappoint either! Keep up the good work!

Ditto to all the above. :)
I think it's perfectly normal to vacillate between sharing the different areas of your life. I enjoy hearing about (and seeing) Thai life as much as I enjoy reading your thoughts on writing.

p.s. I received my lovely package when I arrived home from my trip. Thank you so much! Will blog about it tomorrow as I'm finally up and running again. xx

I wrote about this recently on my blog. I was worried that because I don't write in one niche area (mom blogging, book blogging, expat blogging etc) I thought that people would lose interest, but I found that most people like having diversity of content on blogs. For this blog, I definately do enjoy the Thai aspect as well as hearing about the writing stuff. This blog is a reflection of YOU and both represent you.

Sweetie, I think you worry too much!!

This blog reflects you...where you live and what you like to do...and we all love you just the way you are!!!

B, thanks lovely. I shall, I think, continue much the way it's always gone.

Oh LPlate, sweetie, you are so kind. I 'heart' you too.

Yvonne, thank you. I made the mistake of looking at Reuter's website today and their photos... Phew.

Angie, thank you. I'm not sure for asking really other than I think I had a crisis of confidence. (Oh brilliant, I'm so glad you liked them.)

Michelle, thank you. Yes I guess in the end I blog what is my life ... and all it encompasses.

C&C, thanks you... Of course I worry; what would I think about if I didn't worry?

I like your blog because your blog reflects you. Funny, interesting, honest, ups, as well as downs, in addition to your life as an expat.

I've only met you twice but sometimes I wish you were around the corner so I could pop by. Your blog (almost) allows me to do that. xx

I come here to find out what you're up to. Doesn't matter about the subject. Like Helen said, it's just like popping by for a chat and an update and I think those kind of blogs are the best.
Feel free however to post copious photos of notebooks, handbags and animal's bottoms:-)

I love your blog and through your photos and posts have seen and learnt so much about Thailand that I never would have done had I not visited teastains.

I love hearing about your writing too, it's good to know how each of us are doing/feeling/progressing. It's fun.

Don't change a thing. x

Personally I really like the mix! I love getting an insight into life in Thailand (and you post some amazing photos of things I'd otherwise never get to see) and I can relate to all the writerly angst (or not) too.

I worry sometimes that my blog is TOO writerly and therefore a bit boring but I think we just have to please ourselves really. If blog readers don't like what we're serving up it only takes a few clicks of the mouse to find a new blog to follow. I'd only worry if my regular blog readers started to find my posts really obnoxious or arrogant.

I like the mix too... I think the crux of it that makes it work is that it's 'you', telling us about your world and your writing.

Worry not, Dearheart.

The thing is, we do want to know 'that' - whatever 'that' is. And thst's why we keep coming back xxx

...because it's a lovely combination of your writing journey (always fascinates me reading other people's!) your life Over There - all nicely written by the way - and great photos. Can't go wrong :o)

Just carry on as you are, it's always worth reading or looking at so don't worry. Everyone agrees that you have definitely got the mix right.

Oh you are all lovely. Sorry if I was having a needy moment. I think that's the truth ... that really it doesn't matter unless it's what you want to write.

I wish I was round the corner from you all too. *sigh*
