My favourite part of the trip to Chiang Rai was the tea plantation. One morning, we drove higher and higher up the windy roads of Doi Mae Salong until we came upon these hill tribe (mostly) women picking tea.

Wow! And love that scarf on the last woman. Looks like little tea balls all over it.
What beautiful photos. My son loved Chiang Rai,or maybe it was Chiang Mai, can't quite remember now. Obviously I'm having a confused day!
That's a superb picture of that tea-picker. I bet it's back-breaking work, though.
The landscape is gorgeous, and I love the last woman's headdress, although I'm curious why she would wear something so elaborate. Like Fran my first thought was how back-breaking that work would be.

Chris, I thought the same. I hadn't realised the tea plants are the same for green and black tea but it's how they're treated that makes them different.
