Oh what a lovely day...

I had the loveliest birthday yesterday.

Thank you to everyone who sent birthday wishes. Messages came in all day via Facebook which is particularly lovely when cards don’t arrive overseas in time for the right day.

I’m always the first to wake in this house (first to bed too.) And this is the sight that greeted me at the crack of dawn when I crept out of our bedroom:

There was a pile of presents on the table that I presumed I wasn’t allowed to open… Oh the self control… eventually, when everyone was up I got to open the gifts. This was one of them:

(Is it wrong to be so excited by a label maker?)

After much research, Daughter made a wheat free chocolate cake that was delicious but was spectacular this morning after a night in the fridge. I know because I had some for breakfast.

We had dinner at Face in Sukhumvit Soi 38 (I've never been before but it's a gorgeous complex of traditional Thai houses) and then went to see Red at the cinema.

I would get REALLY excited by a label maker. But I think we are a minority breed. Happy belated birthday.

Belated happy birthday!

I am VERY jealous of your new label maker! I have one like that in my desk at work, which I'm hoping to take with me when I eventually leave. Everyone should have one.

Yikes! I missed your birthday, too. But I'm thinking of you and am so glad to hear you had such a lovely day. Hurray for label makers! And wheat-free chocolate cake! And hopefully I'll see you soon. Looks like I'll be coming in March. When I get back to the UK after this trip to the States I'm on now, I'll send a proper email about it! in the meantime, happy belated birthday. Xoxo

Thank you Lane. It was so yummy. I wrestling son for the last piece.

Oh Fran, it's such fun. I'm making labels for anything that stays still....

Liz, they should. I'm loving it. I'm planning to go out and buy some new tape colours tomorrow... Soooo sad.

Sue, don't worry. Yikes - March. I'm away for a bit. I'll send you the dates.

I'm glad you had such a fabulous birthday and can see why you'd love that label maker so much.

That chocolate cake sounds heavenly, I'm not surprised you had some for breakfast.

Debs, thank you. The chocolate cake was quite moist on the day.. but by morning it was dense and brownie like... Oooh I'm salivating.

Chocolate cake for breakfast? You are my heroine. Why wheat free? Does it bother your tum?

Ooh, happy belated birthday, that cake looks amazing! I couldn't be trusted with a label maker, but perhaps you can't either :-)

Hi fellow Crusader! :D Happy belated birthday!

Jenny Beattie said...

DJ, wheat free because quite simply it makes me feel bad. I've had two negative coeliac tests but it still makes me feel crap... So I've stopped.

Denise, oh no, I definitely can't be trusted. I've been labelling crazy today.

Thank you Sheepish. And don't worry. I take good wishes at any time!

Marieke, thank you. Yes, fellow crusader. I need to post about that! I hope to see you again.

Pleased that you had such a good time.
I’ll check out Face – thanks for that – we used to visit Krua Vientienne on 36 from time to time. Face sounds interesting.
Have a great weekend – with lots of cake too….

All the best, Boonie
