I went over to Siam Paragon again today.

A week since my first blog about it and the Krispy Kreme Doughnut frenzy is ongoing. Look at today's queue! There are rumours that they are being resold in MBK for twice the price.Yesterday there was a sale in school: the doughnuts went to the highest bidders. The last doughnut went for 400 Thai Baht (a bit over £8 or $13.) The only redeeming fact about this is that the money was raised for charity.

(Sorry about the dodgy photoshopping job - I can't get the staff. They must all be queuing for doughnuts.)

For anyone that didn't see in my comments I did find out why there was a queue on the first day. I googled it and found this promise:

- 1st customer gets 1 year supply of a dozen donuts per week
- 2nd customer gets 6 months supply of a dozen donuts per week
- 3rd customer gets 3 months supply of a dozen donuts per week
- 4th-100th customers get 1 month supply of a dozen donuts per week
- 101th-200th customers get 1 dozen free donuts

There are no more free doughnuts to be had people.

That's insane!
I do remember my office having a frisson of excitement when Krispy Kremes opened in the nearby train station - but that was because we'd occasionally have the double dozen for team meetings.

Presumably Bangkok has plenty of other exciting delicacies? They really are just doughnuts!!

Has the world gone mad! Although I do like a doughnut (and free ones at that) I hate queuing more.

I like a doughnut as much as the next person but cripes ...

And the K spelling sort of puts me off them.

Don't worry, the photos OK – and almost certainly loads better than the doughnuts.

All the best, Boonie

Mind you, I do quite fancy one now.

PS: get a Kindle. It's research!

You probably won't believe me after reading all my food-obsessed posts, but I have never yet had a Krispy Kreme doughnut. Am I the only person in the world?

Sounds like a very good reason for queueing to me!

I do love Krispy Kreme donuts! But they are crazy expensive here, too.

Liz, was the frisson of excitement because it was a new place or because it was specifically KK? And yes, it has loads of places but this is new and shiny and American...

Lily, no point me queuing as I can't eat it.

Lane, yes, like Toys 'R' Us. Everything about that offends me. Still, at least they didn't call them 'donuts.' Grrrr.

Boonie, lol. Astonishing.

Kate, sorry, i hope the cravings have passed. Yes, a Kindle for research: so true.

Fran, NOOOOO? No it's not just you. Me too.

Helen, really?

Talli, are they any different to any other sort of doughnut?

I do have a sense that the terribleness of the 'K' makes them even more bad for you somehow? I've never actually tried one, I must confess. If I do, I certainly won't be popping over to Bangkok to make my purchase!

Good grief! I don't think anything is worth that kind of line!

I would do that for doughnuts. And then afterward, I'd get mad at myself for wasting my time on said doughnuts and give them away. I'm an expert time waster.
