Something came up at book club on Tuesday. One of our new members asked if people read more now that they are expats. Answers were split. I don’t read more; I’ve always read obsessively.
Someone asked about guilt. They said: do you feel guilty taking the time to read? Quite a few people did.
I don’t. It’s not like I’d be dusting under the sofa if I weren’t reading, is it?

I agree with you. Reading is far more important than housework.
Preseli Mags, absolutely. There's no point in feeling guilty then is there?
*Anything* is more important than housework!
If I’m going on a guilt trip I want it to be for something rather more adventurous than reading.
Have a nice day, Boonie
Guilt!? Wow, I don't think I'd ever feel guilty reading. I've never even thought about it! I guess I'm a self-absorbed reading addict?!
The only time I feel guilty about reading is when my husband is busy doing all the housework around me. But I somehow manage to smother it if he doesn't complain. He doesn't read anything other than the newspaper and doesn't understand my complete obsession with reading.
Reading is so ingrained into me that I would never ever feel guilty. The thought just wouldn't occur to me!
I don't ever feel guilty reading, except for maybe when I'm in the car and should be racing towards work, then perhaps I do, a little.
Don't think I've ever dusted under the sofa...! No, I've never felt guilty about reading! Jane x
Gosh, I don't work right now and I don't have a family to take care of, so I don't feel guilty, but I read A LOT less here than I did back home. I need a library--does anybody use libraries here? I bought a Kindle before I came over, but I really prefer to borrow books because I read so fast.
