I haven’t been able to make a total switch the new MacBook Pro because
I am a bit ham-fisted too. I only have enough brain power either to write or use the Mac. Now that the four travel articles have been done and it’s only the edits I’m dealing with – which are going well – it’s crunch time.
I’ve got Scrivener installed – almost my sole reason for wanting a Mac – and yesterday I got all the other essential software organised. I need Microsoft Office because the children use it and we’re constantly passing work back and forwards. Most important though was Photoshop. I learned it so that I could prepare photos for the website I worked on. Honestly, the website software, Dreamweaver, left me likely to commit heinous crimes, but Photoshop? I fell in love. This 2007 example of my
So all I need to do now is transfer the files from PC to Mac and work out why Mac keeps falling off the internet while PC doesn’t.
And then *gulp* it’s Mac time only.

Ooh the Scrivener sounds good! My son has a Mac - perhaps I could get him to install it on there for me - although I'm not holding out much hope!
Your travel articles sound exciting! :-)
I wouldn't know where to start and looking at your example of the photos with the policeman, you know far more than I do.
Like Debs, I wouldn't know where to start either...perhaps one day I'll have a proper go!!
With a little practice I'm sure you'll get the hang of the Mac :-)

that sounds far too technical for me JJ!
... as a complete technoignoramus, I'm afraid I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about...
I saw your comment on The Literary Project and had to visit you to say I'm very excited that you're thinking of buying CUT SHORT in Bangkok. I didn't know it was available there. Please let me know if you read it - I'd love to blog about "a reader in Bangkok"... It sounds so glamorous and exotic! I hope you enjoy CUT SHORT. Feel free to send me your comments. I love hearing from readers.
Now I'm off to check out a very intriguing photo I glimpsed on your blog before I commented.
I'm no good at anything like that but have ehard that Macs are much better than anything else. And, way more expense too!
Goodness. Macs scare me but I'm very impressed.
I've never even seen a Mac except from a distance! I've written in word for so long that I think it's the only word processing program in the universe. Why do you like Scriverner so much?
Hi JJ Thank you for your message. I'm so excited! I've emailed you and am looking forward to posting a photo of CUT SHORT in Bangkok on my blog. Thank you again.
Amanda, I'm very excited about the Scrivener. I can't wait to get going. Yes, I don't think either my son or my daughter would be charitable enough to lend me their pcs!
Debs, I want to learn more though. I lurrrve it.
Carol, there was a time when I thought you might learn it... Getting the hang of the Mac (I'm on it now) slowly.
Flowerpot *grins*
Leigh, hello. You'll have got the pics by now.
DJ, they are stupidly expensive but their software isn't. Bit of a Hobson's choice, really?
Helen, *whispers* don't tell anyone but they scare me too.
Rick, welcome. What I anticipate liking about Scrivener is that I can link, keep track and move more easily than in Word. I hope. I may be being naive...
Leigh, excellent. I can't wait to see it.
My Mac falls off wireless too. Really annoying, but I've got a techie friend looking into it. If he finds anything out, I'll let you know!
PS. I use Scrivener, and it's great!
I'm very interested to know how you get on with Scrivener. I've been trialling and reviewing some writing software packages for a while now, but don't have access to any Apple hardware.
Once you go Mac, you'll never go back. (Ha!) Can you tell I love my Macbook? I wanted to try Scrivener, but frankly I got stuck in the edits and forgot. Would love to hear what you think once you've played around with it more.
