Friday Photo

Yesterday the school bus took four hours to get  to our apartment. The children were all ages, many siblings - and we all know how they can deal with a confined space - moods swung right through the emotional range as they struggled to cope with the ordeal. (And I don't mean missing the result of American Idol.)

This journey on empty roads is about 25 minutes. Normal can be as much as an hour. Friday afternoons are usually worse and an exhibition or concert at the exhibition centre near school can exacerbate the traffic. Last night was the start of a three day weekend.

Bangkok's traffic is notorious. I was much amused this week with the provision of a little light reading in case of such emergencies - in one of the city's fine taxis:

I am sort of liking the idea of mags entitled 'Spicy', 'Racy' and 'Bit Dodgy'. Yes, sort of liking it very much. Did you read them all? :0)

Four hours, yuk. Presumably they get a day off today to recover, if it's a three-day weekend? And I'm guessing those aren't cookery magazines, despite the title.

Jen, that made me laugh out loud. I did not read. I was a bit embarrassed to take a picture.

(I did want to peek though!)

Queenie, No, not cookery. It left NO TIME to revise for today's chemistry which began at 8.45 am! All the kids were bursting for the loo (strangely this upset me more than anything else when Daughter told me on the phone) Eventually, though totally against school policy, the driver stopped at a gas station to let them all pee!

Four hours! I get stir crazy if I'm stuck in the traffic here for 25 minutes.

Daughter:
Interesting magazines mum... Thankfully there was none of those mags on our bus ride home. But we kept our selves busy with some interesting (cough cough) topics (Scuba diving, 2nd world war, American bombs, Japan.. -I thought school was finished!?!)

Can you imagine the headlines in The Mail if that happened here?:-)

Dear God - Four hours! That's crazy! Kudos to the kids for getting through that.

How nice of them to put cookery magazines for you to read.

My goodness, it's a different world over there. Over here taxis don't provide anything except unwelcome chatter :)

Ooh, nice! I'd be too embarrassed to look, though.
