Friday Photo

Spotted: Wednesday 28 January 2009

Where: Outside Emporium from a taxi

But: Chased them up to Soi 26 to get the picture

What? Sometimes, I really think it's best not to ask.

The sign says: We love Bangkok

I said: What's with the costume?

Love the picture, and at least they didn't mind you chasing them.

Are those notebooks they're carrying? Maybe they're writers researching people's reactions to strange twin-like costumed figures!

OMG, someone stole half their costumes!! Was it you?? (hehehe)

Debs, no and they very kindly posed in that funny Eastern way!

Zinnia, But what's with the half leg thing? There were about 8 of them but these two saw me and posed.

Carol, so silly, no?

How come I never see stuff like that (not that I would run up Soi 26 after them to get the photo!) Jane x

I'm guessing from the green costumes and the globe outlined behind the "We Love Bangkok" slogan that this was part of yet another hare-brained initiative funded by the BMA to drum up "green" eco-awareness. Their hearts are in the right place but they keep wasting money on schemes that encourage green-ness without educating people HOW to go about living in a more energy-efficient, less wasteful way. At least they're trying to spread the word, though. *Sigh*

My, what fetching outfits. I want one just like that... in black. :0)

Sheepish, they do look a bit scary, don't they?

Lane, well, I'm such a duh brain, but see Expat Mama's idea below.

Helen, I have to confess I carry my camera everywhere and I chase. I am embarrassed but enough to not take the daft picture.

Jane, hello lovely (it is who I think it is, yeah?) Do you really not see them? They are everywhere!

BEM, Oooohhhh. I hadn't worked it out, so stunned was I at the outfits... I think you're right. I do despair, they try but I always get the feeling that it's not really about the environment but about looking like they're doing something about it.

Wordtryst, I'll see what I can arrange...

So what was with the costumes? Did you ask? For some reason I need them to have opposite legs bare/not bare. The asymmetry jags me for some reason..;-)
