Today’s post is meant to be a meme, but I just had to come and tell you about Son coming home from his trial run expedition to Khao Yai…
He arrived back home yesterday,
• smelling vile,
• limping,
• bitten to bits by mosquitos despite Deet,
• sunburned despite 50 spf,
• ‘more blisters than skin’
• covered in scratches,
• wearing his teacher’s trousers!

After four portions of shepherds’ pie, he felt strong enough to empty his rucksack out all over the kitchen floor.
Finally, he pulled out the sleeping bag from its bag to add to the washing pile, shook it open and THIS is what came out with it:

Eeeeewwwwww!!!
Glad I wasn't there to smell son...and why was he wearing his teachers trousers?

It sounds like he had an exhausting time. Glad the shepherds' pie did the trick. Amazing how mothers always know the way to recovery.
Love the beetle, though wouldn't fancy finding one in son's sleeping bag.
Carol, lol. There was lots of squealing in the kitchen when that hit the floor - and that was just Husband and Son... No alright, it was me.
Son was wearing his teacher's trousers because all of Son's clothes were wet... Ah camping!
Debs, it was exhausting but he seemed to have kind of enjoyed it in a character building way... I had hopes of the shepherds pie going around again tonight but it wasn't to be.
oh NO!! As Debs said, nothing like the restorative powers of shepherds pie...
Ugh.
And there I was worrying about my son's expedition to the vets yesterday with the beaver scouts!
Eurgh. Interesting little chap. But not in your house!
Sheeeesh! Was going to say we didn't have too much imported wildlife from DofE expeditions in UK, but Tanzanian kit on return was a sight to behold.
I think he's very cute!
