I can now account for all the lethargy I’ve experienced lately: the dreaded lurgy. At least I can account for all the badly timed sleeps I’ve been craving (and submitting to).
I’m feeling back to normal today, and I’m going to get on with some work.
Although, rather excitingly, I’ve got some furniture coming for my little office space today which might mean I stop work (assuming I’ve started) and organise the area.
How many ways are there to postpone writing?
Do you think, maybe, that we could all come up with a definitive list?

You can start with checking out everyone's blogs.....
Morning Liz, Yeah, I've done that. I've managed to avoid organising the new furniture, though I've put it in place. Now I'm going through the 'He Wrote She Wrote' stuff, which is causing me to worry about my antagonist, which isn't really a character... Can the antagonist be a situation/place not necessarily a person? JJ
Furniture arriving is a good one - it's mental preparation! Then there's stationary to be bought and arranged. I find making a cuppa and then finding biscuits and then just making a quick phonecall ...
Have fun x
Erm... Listen to Radio 4 while checking email (work, personal, hotmail, yahoo), responding to email (students usually), check WebCT (my virtual learning space) to find none of the students have posted - again. Then comes planning and prep for teaching. Then make more tea, play spider solitaire (to help me think about the novel of course!), and catch up on blogs. By which time I notice the house is a tip and start feeling guilty. Oh dear!
Having said that, the novel is fast becoming all consuming - it's all I think about while doing the other things.
JJ just write and worry about the antagonist after the first draft!! He Wrote She Wrote is great but you need to put the words on the page. remember the mantra that you edit crap but you can edit air. I need that tattooed on my head.
I have managed a measely 200 words so far today. Must find focus!
Hi Liz, OMG yes, I'm now fannying around with a new word meter. How long does it take? I've done about 5 times! Okay, words. I've managed about 300 today, and have been in front of the pc ALL day.
I know that feeling, Hesitant Scribe - see above. The all consuming thoughts and an absolutely pitiful number of words. I prefer bejeweled at the moment - I'm so tragic I'm emailing my scores to my husband. God, have got to get a life.
Dusting and hoovering, dishes, emailing, blogs, reading, shopping...
And my favourite - THINKING about writing.
Oh Nichola, How bad things must be to want to hoover and clean. No, I can safely say, I've never felt that bad :-)
I think my fav must be the 'thinking' too.
JJ
