I must NOT buy any more books

Whenever people say 'I must not buy any more books' I think: 'Why?' I've always felt no harm would come if I went on buying books. I mean, I read them and as long as I'm able to pay for them... it's okay, isn't it? Until now, when I am wondering how I am going to take my purchases home. I brought five books with me from Bangkok and now . I have acquired many books in the three weeks that I've been here. All of them are essential, obviously.

Anyway, there's been a photograph your bookshelf meme thing going around and mine is interesting (possibly only to me) because it consists of what I brought with me and what I've purchased while here. A little snapshot, then, of what I HAVE to travel with and what I must ACQUIRE.

Five books were brought from Bangkok with me.

And then I have purchased:
research books for WIP
non-fiction books of interest
charity shop bargains
two for Husband
two more ‘how to’ manuals
One to read before my writing course in September with the Literary Consultancy because Kate Mosse is a tutor there.

It might sound selfish :-) but I say you can never buy too many books! If nothing else, it's what keeps 2nd hand bookshops in business! Glad to hear you're enjoying your time in Britain. Oh, and I'm interested in the Literary Consultancy. A friend of mine just did their novel course and said it was great. And I'll be looking for an editor for my new novel. I'll be interested to hear about it.

An interesting selection! I've not read the Kate Moss book, but have heard good things it :o) I'd be interested in hearing about the course too.

I agree you can't buy too many books (though I'm sure your luggage will disagree, as will my tbr pile...)! Interesting selection you have there.

I think it depends on you, but having said that: it's never going to be possible to read all the books you want to, so sooner or later you have to prioritise. Why buy books before you are ready to read them?

i have 20-odd books that i have not yet read. that makes me nervous and annoyed, because i wonder about when i will read them and whether i should stop everything else for a while and just read, but there is not enough time to do that. arrrgh... too many books... :(

I am exactly the same when I return to the UK I always fill up my suitcase with books! It made sense when we lived in Mexico but now we're in the US with access to B&N and Amazon, I still do it though!

Enjoy your books, I really like the Kate Mosse one. I think she has a new one out too which I must buy!

At the risk of stating what you already know, it is possible to air-freight extra boxes of luggage relatively cheaply if you get organsed before getting to the airport. A friend of ours recently sent two boxes of books to India on the day she was flying - having made arrangements in advance, we took the boxes to a warehouse near Heathrow, and the cost was around £60.
I also have far too many books in my TBR pile, but I like encouraging my favourite bloggers by buying their books.
