Since I got back last week I’ve occasionally noticed a band of writing floating across the BBC Entertainment channel. I’m so used to ignoring subtitles that I didn’t really see it. Every occasion I remembered/noticed it I’d read it only to discover the end of the message “…for more information contact TrueVision Careline on blah blah blah.” Or even worse, I only saw the Thai bit.
Today, while I was eating my lunch, I was watching something and I saw something alarming about the notice – sort of in my peripheral vision. I waited until the message came around again and realised that it says they are discontinuing the BBC Entertainment channel (and one other) for a new Sport channel (and something else I didn’t notice) effective 1 June.
And now I’m really pissed off about it. What will I do for mindless entertainment?

Darn!
Errr, there's a newfangled thing you may have heard of, it's called 'The Internet'. Failing that - DVDs?
You will just need to force yourself to watch more Tootsie :-)
C x
Rachel, yeah, exactly my feelings.
Queenie, Hmmm, I get hooked on TV too easily. I don't want to download stuff to watch... I just want to turn it on for half an hour when I fancy a bit of brainless entertainment. We have gazillions of DVDs... I hardly watch them.
Carol, LOL. Cheeky.
Most inconsiderate of the BBC I think!
How bloomin' annoying.
Damns. There's nothing like a good bit of mindless TV for relaxation. Is that the only UK channel?
Hope you find an alternative. Course, it always leaves you more time to ........ write:-)
Maybe the 'something else you didn't notice' will turn out to be entertaining in some way.
Get iTunes, and listen to all the radio podcasts. Potentially years of your life could be wasted there. There is as much entertainment in the names of the stations as in the content...
You'll find a new station to nominate as your favourite 'brain junk food'. Can't believe it has taken me this long to find your blog again...on my fave list now!
Yes it's horrible- I called the care line and was advised that the contract has finished and there is some attempt being made to renew it. I wish they'd renew it and get bbc lifestyle and cbeebies too. BBC entertainment is the only channel I watch.
Bangkok, thanks for visiting. Oh, really? They are trying to renew? Well, that's an improvement on the stories I read in local press. Perhaps I should call the Customer Careline?
Thanks.
