So it’s painfully slow, and I’ve calculated that if I write only 200 words a day, five days a week, it’ll take two years to write my book.
Still, I’m writing.
I can’t quite persuade myself that I can write tosh and come back and sort it out later. Maybe that’s not my way.
Maybe, I have to write slowly and right (mostly).
Still, it’s a lot of sitting and thinking. And looking at the ‘recount’ button, and pressing it and finding out I’ve only added five words since I last pressed it.

I feel your pain :)

Oh gawd, the agony, Caroline. Make it go away...
Two years for a great book is pretty good I reckon.
Don't compare yourself to others - just do what suits you personally JJ. I often get bogged down in word counts and duration - it's never a good thing.
To use a cliche Rome wasn't built in a day. You are doing really well - better than me :( - but as Yvonne says we shouldn't compare ourselves to others!
I don't know if this will make you feel better or worse, but it took me 5 years to write my book (and that's not counting the year before hand when I thought and "practiced etc" and now the year after to get it actually in print). Let's face it, we're all in this for the long haul, eh? But you'll get there. You will!
Yvonne, yeah, but two years for an adequate book isn't quite so good eh? Still not thinking that way! You're right - I've tried the 1000 words a day method and that didn't work either.
Helen, you have a great excuse though! No it wasn't, and you know, I'm writing ...
SueG, actually I DO find that strangely comforting. I know everyone does it differently and i don't like being so slow but I DO want to do it ... so slowly it goes.
Honey, you will get there in the end and that's all that matters!!
I know you'll do it!!

Look on the bright side it's more than I am managing at the moment so give yourself a pat on the back and keep going.
I'm nearing on two years and all I have is a rebellious rough first draft. Writing takes so much patience and dedication, but you clearly have both, so continue writing those lovely 200 words a day. You'll be glad you did when you reach the end.
xx
Ahh but I bet those five words you just wrote are all sparkling with brilliance. Aren't they??
Keep going!
