Dressing up

I am on new words today but I slipped out to get some money and a Starbucks this morning so that I could pay the IT man that's coming to boost our wifi. I know that not having wifi in my office should be a really good thing that keeps me writing, but unfortunately I've become so cold turkey I can't write unless I get it boosted to reach my little room.

While I was out I saw two promo girls: one in front of the Grammy building and one inside. Both were giving out freebies (a sachet of sugar or a sachet of tissues). This is really Thai and it always makes me chuckle. They seem such an introverted people such a lot of the time and yet they appear to love to dress up in extraordinary outfits to sell things. I still can't quite forgive Husband for telling me about the girls dressed in American tan coloured body stockings who were bathing in a cup of coffee! He saw this downstairs in his office building and didn't have a camera. I don't go anywhere without a camera and haven't done for nearly three years.

Camera esstential and phone's one is back up. Love your snapshots into Thai life. However the locals here are not so happy about photos........

Great news on the words. Keep going!

Monica, me too. I think that's because every day produces a photo worthy opportunity!

Oh that's interesting Liz, Thais seem to love having their pictures taken. They stop, smile and pose!

I agree, but usually forget my camera and the one on my phone is useless, although it could be me not knowing how to work it properly.

I'm the exact same, take my camera everywhere.

I am quite glad you bring that camera with you everywhere. You always have the most interesting pictures. :)

Dito! People must wonder what it is that I'm actually photographing half the time. I've just noticed that your a potter too, can you recommend a good club in BK?

Debs, the phone ones are either brilliant or hopeless - there doesn't seem to be any middle ground. My Blackberry, to save money, doesn't have a camera.

Yvonne, I was in the UK too. It's not just that I live somewhere 'different.'

Angie, thank you.

Samesame, it can be really embarrassing. Sometimes I feel such a tourist... but I'm always surprised how happy they are to have their picture taken. Potter? Ceramics? Is that what you mean?

Yeh I meant ceramics. You've mentioned that you 'potter creatively' in your profile. I thought you meant pottery but I guess you mean potter about rather than actual potting. Now I've driven myself potty with all this talk of pots.

Well it's funny you should mention it, because my final piece in my fine art degree was in fact ceramic. So I am interested, though not an expert. There is a place that I'll have to find again (I can't recall off the top of my head) where you can do ceramics. Off Sukhumvit somewhere... I'll let you know.

Thanks JJ, after going back to Bangkok and falling in love with it all over again, we are seriously considering living there rather than down south. Cost of living is much cheaper which means we would be able to afford to take more trips away. And it's so central.
