Oh, FrogBlogger, I'm so fed up with it. ThaiPulse say grenades are being thrown in the airport. Husband is in India due back to BK on Friday morning...
Saw a clip of shots being fired at government supporters last night, another of a guy being beaten up. The trouble with the 'mai pen lai' approach is that it means all those pent-up emotions have longer to build up. Something's got to give. People's views are increasingly polarised though. I see the government resigning and new elections being called if they can't police the new state of emergency (that didn't work last)...
Liz, I am. I know there have been worse situations but I can't see how they are going to get through this without bloodshed.
The mother in me doesn't even want the children going off to school in the bus. I know it's fine. The school is careful and they'll be keeping an eye on things...
Still, life has to go on, eh?
FrogBlogger, I feel a certain doom for the whole thing...
JJ, I am so sorry to hear how this situation is affecting you. At least your husband is presumably safe where he is at present, and if there are still problems at the airport by Friday morning, I'm sure incoming planes will be diverted to other airports nearby - which is a hassle for travellers, for sure, but who cares as long as everyone reaches their destination safely. As you say, life does have to go on, and you are doing all the right things for your family by keeping yourself informed and reviewing decisions regularly. Just don't forget to take care of yourself too, OK?
I read about the demonstrations in the paper to you. there was a really frightening photo of the airport, and I thought about you. It must be so worrying. Do take care, and hopefully this will subside sooner rather than later. What a world we live in. I fear no one is really safe anywhere....:-(
I moved with my family to Bangkok in July 2005. What do I do? I make hats and costumes; I’ve written articles, a novel and a non-fiction book is underway… I've held a variety of volunteer positions within the expat community.
Tea stains is where I write and illustrate the things that consume me: life in Thailand, shop windows, books, cats, making, hats, fascinators, tea and the colour orange.

It's a sad state of affairs. Still some hope of reconciliation? Hmm, growing ever fainter, I think...

It's just never ending isn't it!! Like you...I'm increasingly worried that it's not going to end without more blood being shed!!
Fingers crossed that it settles down...and soon!!
